A great movie about a drug dealer who gets shot in the eyes.

[Note: the thing about the opening and leaving Insight is still in the works. Patience, my kiddies.]
Don’t look now, but Rockford’s own Chris(Topher) Engler has himself a little movie (little Hell! That bad boy’s feature length), called R.P.G. He’s doing a screening of the rough cut at Rock Valley College On March 11th.
It’s got zing, It’s got moxie, It’s got me…and the other 85 minutes that don’t have me are sort of ok too. I mean…Serviceable. Basically.
I don’t know. There’s like this whole plot thing, and people acting, and I imagine there was a camera involved. It’s a very complex process.
Kidding aside, this is a great movie. You gotta see it. This has been a long time in the making, and worth the wait. Our boy took some risks here, and I think they paid off.
As I’m writing this, I’m trying to be careful not to get too spoiler-y. I may have been in danger of that just by the title of this entry alone—but not to big because, delusions of grandeur aside, mine’s a pretty minor part.
Here’s what I think I can get away with saying about the plot: The characters are these regular Joes who are going along with their regular lives…lives that are filling with problems. In the spirit of escapism they launch into a Roll Playing Game—or the eponymous R.P.G. for short. As the characters in their game get into complex situations, so do their real lives get more complex. The players try to reconcile the situations in the real world and the game world, figure out which is more important, and if you can live in both. Oh yeah, and there’s this drug dealer who gets shot in the eyes. Did I mention? That fake blood in the eyes stung too, boy howdy!

Possibly the highest compliment I’ve been paid: Chris said I give good dead guy.
